Festive Summer in Burngreave

Firshill TARA Summer Fair

A great day was had by all at the Firshill TARA Summer Fair with stalls, food, prize giving and information.

BCAT's Samantha Bridden was present to talk about various projects, and fire safety officer John Edwards and community police officer Chris Hiles were on hand to discuss any issues residents may have had.

Jim Boyle, Sheaf Training horticultural tutor, judged the Firshill best-kept garden competition and presented the winners with their awards.

The winners of the Children’s Poster Competition – based around the themes of fire safety and crime prevention – were also announced.

Open to children from the estate and St. Catherine's and Firs Hill schools, there were 80 enteries in all, each receiving a £2 book token. Two winners from each school and an overall winner each won a £5 book token and a Concord family swim ticket, and two winners from the estate won a £10 book token each.
